Behringer 1832-FX 18-Input 3/2-Bus Mixer with Effects and USB

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

The Behringer1832FX mixer is the best value for getting your home studio started. I looked at Yamaha, Allen & Heath, Alesis, and Mackie. The Behringer is the best value out there. I’m inputting an old Roland piano, a synth, stereo guitar effects output, drum machine, 2 vocal mics, an acoustic guitar, a violin, and a computer (that leaves me with one input channel unused). I output to a pair of keyboard amplifiers and the computer. I use it for practicing and home recording to the computer. The mixer is very quiet, and easy to control. There are some features I haven’t tried yet, but I wanted to get the word out because I did not see too many reviews out there when I was looking

Pros:

- Lots of inputs

- Built in effects – sound great and easy to use

- Built in equalizer

- Built in Voice reduction for Karaoke (great for the kids)

- Easy controls

- No noticeable white noise generation

- Nice pre-amps for mics or low gain passive pick-ups

- Stereo inputs are convenient

- Cheap!!

- `Free’ USB audio converter included

- Small footprint for fitting into home studio

- Includes brackets for optional rack mount

- Very good documentation

- Very good on-line support (www.behringer.com)

Cons:

- First mixer arrived with a loose knob (It was completely functional, and Amazon replaced without any issue – 2nd one was fine)

- One volume slider is a little `crunchy’ (some noise while moving)

- USB converter is somewhat useless for live playback due to delay (better off going directly in/out of computer with CD/Tape in/outs)

- Only one headphone output

- Overall feel of mixer is cheap, very lightweight with lots of plastic

Thank you for reading this far. I think this is an excellent mixer for the price. It is a terrific value!!

Behringer MX882 8-Channel Splitter/Mixer

I needed an affordable audio distribution amp for the recording output of my church’s sound console, and this really does the job!

The unit is so flexible, that it is a little hard to comprehend how it works. But with a purpose in mind, I downloaded the owner’s manual before buying the unit, and figured out that it would do exactly what I needed.

My application: I have a stereo signal that I wanted to route to several different devices. I needed isolation between each output device, because they don’t co-exist well: some are balanced, some are unbalanced, and one puts some noise on the input line. Three outputs needed to be stereo and one needed to be mono. I was able to easily configure this mixer to do the job, with one output channel to spare!

The signal is very clean – I could detect no introduced noise of any kind. And the LED’s on the input and each output channel are a nice touch, providing a quick visual indication that everything is working.

All in all, I’m very pleased with it.
